    Nobody else does this

Every tool you own, on one list

Serial numbers, receipts, what you paid and which van it lives in. The things an insurer asks for on the worst morning of your year, and that nobody has to hand — because they are in a drawer, or a photo, or gone.

What it is, what it cost

Make, model, serial, purchase date and price, with the receipt attached. Assign it to a van, a store or a person.

    A warning before it matters

Your tester goes out of calibration in six weeks and it tells you now — not after you have already certified a result with it.

    Ready for the claim

Because the register already exists, the insurance schedule is a export, not an evening reconstructing a decade of purchases from memory.

    Nobody else does this

Stick a tag on it. Anyone can scan it.

A QR code or an NFC sticker on any tool, van, ladder or consumer unit. No app to download and no login to create, so a site manager, a buyer at the door of a car boot sale, or an officer with your drill in an evidence bag can all check it from any phone.

    Unlimited tags, always

We do not charge per tag and we never will — it is written into the plan table as a database constraint, not a promise on a webpage.

    QR or NFC, your choice

Print a sheet of QR labels for the small stuff, stick an NFC disc on the things that live outdoors.

Public, but only what you choose

The scanner sees that the item is registered and to whom. They do not see your job list, your prices or your customers.

    Nobody else does this

If the van gets done, you have the list in ninety seconds

You are stood in a car park at ten past six with a smashed window and a crime reference number. Open the break-in report, tick what has gone, and out comes the itemised list the officer wants and the priced schedule the insurer wants. Both at once.

    The list for the police

Item, make, model, serial number. The serials are the only reason a recovered tool ever comes back to you.

    The schedule for the insurer

Priced from what you actually paid, with the receipts attached. It also warns you which items have no serial on record, because without one, ownership and value are much harder to prove.

    Before the adrenaline wears off

The report exists because the register already did. Nothing to reconstruct, nothing forgotten at two in the morning.

    Nobody else does this

Know what a property is missing — not just what you have done

Every other tool can file the gas safety record you just issued. None of them can tell you which of your forty properties has not had one. That is a different question, and it is the one that costs people money.

    What it should hold

Gas safety record, EICR, EPC, alarm checks — tracked against the actual instrument that requires them, with the basis stated so a British Standard is never dressed up as law.

What has expired, what never existed

A certificate that was never obtained is invisible to every system that only files what you send it. Here it shows up red.

Filed the moment it is issued

The engineer completes the job, the certificate lands against the property. Nobody re-keys anything.

    Nobody else does this

Your letting agents can check for themselves

The managing agent rings you because they cannot see whether number 14 has a current gas certificate. Give them a portal that shows their own properties and nothing else, and the phone stops.

    Their portfolio, not yours

An agent sees the properties they manage. They do not see your other clients, your prices or your job list.

    No account to create

A link that works. They are not going to sign up for your software, and they should not have to.

    Unlimited team members

On the Compliance plan we do not charge per seat. Put your whole office on it.

    How it works

Four steps. First quote to a five-star verified review.

    Send a quote

Use a job template or write from scratch. Send by SMS or email. Customer accepts on their phone — no signup.

    Run the job

Status updates, photos and notes. Your customer sees progress in real time, without chasing you.

    Get paid

Take a card on the spot — Apple Pay, Google Pay, contactless — send an invoice, or both. Fast bank deposit.

    Get a verified review

Once it's paid, your customer is asked to review you automatically. Tied to a real job — and it ranks you higher on GotAPal, winning the next one.

    The morning after the break-in

A Tuesday for Dave, a plumber in Bedford

Not the good day. The bad one — because that is the day the software either earns its keep or does not.

    1. 1

06:40 — the window is gone

Dave gets to the van outside his house and the side window is in the footwell. The Makita, the impact driver, both testers, and the press tool he only finished paying for in March.

    2. 2

      06:55 — the crime reference

101, then a reference number. The officer asks the question everyone gets asked and almost nobody can answer: what exactly was in it, and have you got the serial numbers?

    3. 3

      07:10 — he ticks a list

Dave opens the break-in report on his phone. Everything he owns is already on the register, assigned to Van 1, because he put it there when he bought it. He ticks what has gone. It takes about ninety seconds.

    4. 4

07:12 — two documents, not one

Out comes the itemised list with serial numbers for the officer, and a priced schedule for the insurer built from what he actually paid, receipts attached. The report also warns him that the press tool has no serial recorded — so he knows now, not after the loss adjuster does.

    5. 5

09:00 — he still works today

The 8:30 is rebooked from the van hire place, the customer gets a message that does not mention any of this, and Dave’s claim is already sitting with his broker. Most trades spend that evening reconstructing a decade of purchases from memory. He did not have to.

None of that works without the boring bit: he put his tools on the register when he bought them.

Dave is an illustration, not a customer. The report, the register and the schedule are real and you can see them working.

    Questions, answered

The things tradespeople ask us most.

Do you charge per asset tag?

No, and we cannot start. Unlimited QR and NFC tags are included on every plan, and it is enforced as a constraint on the plan table in the database — a plan that charges per tag will not save. Print as many as you like.

What happens if my tools are nicked?

Open the break-in report, put in the crime reference, and tick what has gone. You get the itemised list with serial numbers that the police ask for, and a priced schedule built from what you actually paid for the insurer. It also flags any item with no serial on record, because without one, proving the item was yours and what it was worth is much harder.

Does it warn me before my tester goes out of calibration?

Yes. Calibration due dates sit on the item in the register and you are warned before the date, not after — which matters, because a certificate issued on an out-of-calibration instrument is worth nothing.

Can my letting agent see certificates without ringing me?

Yes, on the Compliance plan. The agent portal shows an agent the properties they manage and nothing else — not your other clients, not your prices, not your job list. No account for them to create.

Does it track what a property is missing, or just file what I send it?

Both, and the first one is the point. ServicePay holds a picture of what each property should have on file — gas safety record, EICR, EPC, alarm checks — and shows you what has expired and what was never obtained at all. Every other tool can only file the certificate you just issued.

    Is there a free plan?

Not for ServicePay — there is a 14-day free trial with no card needed, then £39/mo. The free thing is a GotAPal profile, which is a separate product: a directory listing, not the app that runs your jobs. You only pay the card-processing fee (2.9% + £1) when you actually take a card payment.

What does it cost to take a card payment?

2.9% + £1 per card transaction, on every plan. Bank transfer and cash cost you nothing — you just mark them as paid. No setup fee and no monthly minimum.

Can I take cash and bank transfer too?

Of course. Record cash, bank transfer or cheque against any invoice in a tap. Card payments are optional — use them when they suit the job.

    Are the reviews really genuine?

Every review is tied to a real, paid job — and every review publishes, good or bad. That keeps you the right side of the UK's fake-review law, in force since April 2025. Your verified reviews show on your GotAPal profile and embed on your own website.

How is ServicePay different from GotAPal?

GotAPal is the free directory where customers find you. ServicePay is the paid app that runs the job: quoting, scheduling, invoicing and card payments. Use either, both, or neither — they're not bundled.

Am I tied into a contract?

No contracts and no lock-in. Cancel any time, and your data is always yours to export.
