    Questions, answered

    Are there any hidden fees?

    Card payments are 2.9% + £1 per transaction on every plan, and never more than 4% of the invoice — so a £45 callout costs £1.79, not £2.31. Card payments start at £20 — below that the fixed costs make the 4% cap impossible, so smaller invoices need bank transfer or cash. International, commercial or Amex cards carry a 1.5% surcharge (they cost more to process), and a £25 fee applies if a customer disputes a payment (a chargeback). Prefer your own Stripe? Connect it and pay £0 platform fee — just Stripe's own rates.

    Is there a free plan?

    Your GotAPal profile is free forever — claim it, collect verified reviews and take enquiries at no cost. ServicePay (the software that runs quotes, jobs, payments and review requests) is £39/mo, with a 14-day free trial and no card needed to start.

    Can I cancel any time?

    Yes. Subscriptions cancel at month-end. No exit fees.

    Do I need a Stripe account?

    We set one up for you in 60 seconds during signup. No card terminal hardware needed.

    Is there a contract?

    No.

    What's the relationship with GotAPal?

    GotAPal is the free directory where customers find you. ServicePay is the paid app that runs the work after the enquiry — quotes, jobs, payments and review requests. Use GotAPal free on its own, or add ServicePay Pro to run the jobs and turn them into verified reviews.

    Are your reviews real?

    Every review is tied to a real, paid job in ServicePay — and we don't hide the bad ones. That keeps you the right side of the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act, which made fake reviews illegal in April 2025. Your verified reputation is yours: it shows on your GotAPal profile, embeds on your own website, and follows you wherever you go.
