Each van and each store is a location with its own levels, rather than one pooled number that means nothing.
Movements recorded
Stock moved from store to van, or van to job, leaves a trail you can follow.
Vans are records, not labels
A van holds a registration, its stock, its assigned tools and its own status.
Off the road
A van can be marked stolen, lost or off the road, and its jobs and contents handled accordingly.
The warning that matters
Mark a van gone and you are told how many tools are still recorded as in service on it - with a link straight to reporting them.
Feeds the loss report
What was on the van is what the break-in report starts from, so the list is not written from memory at six in the morning.

Is this full inventory management?
No, and deliberately. It answers 'what is on that van' and 'what was on it when it was emptied'. It is not a warehouse system.
What happens to the tools if the van is stolen?
They are not marked stolen automatically, because the two are not the same event. You are warned how many are still recorded as on board and given a direct route to report them.
