Why it works with no signal
A site gate is the worst place for a lookup
Basements, plant rooms, steel-framed buildings and rural sites are exactly where you get asked to prove who you are, and exactly where a page that needs the network fails.
The pass is cached on the device, so it opens whether or not there is a bar of signal. If the business lookup itself fails, it falls back to the last known business rather than showing nothing — because in a real outage the lookup is the thing that breaks first.
It shows its own age. The sync time is on the card. A pass that quietly shows month-old data with no indication would be worse than no pass.

You are told before a certificate lapses, not when someone turns you away at a gate.
Against the right thing
A document can belong to the business, a van, a person, a tool, a property, a job or a customer - so it is findable from whichever direction you come at it.
Upload, don't re-key
An insurance certificate or a gas safety record is produced by whoever issued it. You store their document; you do not retype it into a form.
Save it in every place it belongs
One upload can be attached to the job, the asset, the property, the customer and the managing agent at once.
Subcontractors can supply their own
Give a subcontractor permission to upload their own insurance and certificates rather than chasing them by email.

What is a site pass?
A single screen showing your business's live paperwork - insurance, competent-person registrations, the lot - that you can show at a site gate. It is cached on the device, so it works when the signal does not.
Do you generate gas safety records or EICRs?
No. We store the ones you or your electrician issue. The model forms for electrical certificates are IET copyright and licensed for use in your own contracting business, not for resale inside software.
Can I attach a certificate to a specific tool?
Yes - a calibration certificate against a tester is the common case, and the tool register uses its expiry date for its calibration warnings.
Whose documents can I store here?
The business's own — public liability, employers' liability, waste carrier — plus people's cards and qualifications, vehicle documents, instrument calibration certificates, and certificates that belong to a property or a job.
Does it tell me before something expires?
Yes. Expiry is tracked per document and surfaced before the date, not after. A certificate on file with no expiry date recorded is shown as exactly that, and never as in date.
Can a subcontractor upload their own?
The permission model, tables and access rules are live and a subcontractor can be granted upload rights. The screen they use is not built yet, so today it is done by your office.
